Below are some areas particularly close to Debbie's heart as they have touched her life personally.
Are you able to relax and just be... YOURSELF? Are you having a hard time connecting deeper with your peers, spouse or kids?
If we have not experienced deep connection and authentic connections while growing up, it can be difficult to even know what true intimacy would look like, let alone move towards it. Our natural tendency is to conceal our authentic self behind exterior bravado and self-protection, avoiding vulnerable conversations at all costs.
Being aware of this is the first step to overcoming it. The next step is to seek help from a safe person who you can trust and who exhibit the qualities you are wanting to develop. Intimacy is an attainable goal and definitely worth pursuing!
Does conflict scare you or the fear of disappointing someone?
Are you in a relationship that feels overpowering? Do you feel trapped, powerless and like you are losing your "self"?
Do you find yourself going from one dysfunctional relationship to another?
You don't have to stay stuck. There are things in your control that you can do to restore freedom and self-confidence in your life!
We all develop fears and anxieties that can drive our decisions and impact our lives. Even those people we may consider the most successful could be driven by fears of failure or a need to find value in their achievements.
Often we want to wait for these fears to be overcome before we risk stepping out of our comfort zone and dare to reach for our buried dreams.
Whether you have social anxiety or fears of being rejected and alone, there is hope and freedom to be found!
Although desires for comfort, happiness, safety, independence or acceptance are all good... when they are out of balance, they can begin to affect our behaviour and in turn, our relationships. They begin to impact our home and work environment.
When these strong expectations and desires are threatened, we can experience very intense emotions such as anxiety, anger, fear or shame. Over the years, we develop coping mechanisms to cover up these ruling desires and fears.
Becoming aware of the source of our triggers and learning how to disarm them, is the necessary step in seeing our needs and desires met in a healthy way.
There are so many losses that we may need to grieve in our life such as the loss of a spouse, parent or child are some of the most life-changing events, along with ones own loss of mobility or function. These inevitably shake our world as we knew it. A loss of a job can also lead to struggles with our sense of competence and purpose. When trauma hits a family, the children can experience a loss of childhood innocence and knowing where they fit in the new dynamics in the home.
Everyone grieves differently but everyone can benefit from a listening ear and a companion that understands loss themselves.
